Who are HT Youth?
HT Youth is home for anyone in school years 7-13 (ages 11-18) who wants to have a bunch of fun, make a bunch of friends, and spend time exploring faith - it’s all about getting to know God, learning to love God and showing God to the rest of the world.
How does it work?
Two youth groups meet on Sundays in school term-time during the evening service between 5.30 - 7pm.
Both groups meet at HT first (look out for the youth leaders at the welcome banner) and begin with songs of worship with the rest of church. After a couple of songs, the youth groups head out to the Henry Martyn Hall or the Charles Simeon Centre (both part of the HT building) and return to the main church by 7pm.
The younger youth group is for those in school years 7-9
The older youth group is for those in school years 10-13
How to get involved
The best way to get involved with HT Youth is to come along on a Sunday evening! Expect to be greeted by the brilliant team of youth leaders and get introduced to some of the other young people who call HT home.
If you are new to HT Youth and would like to come regularly, there is a permission form at the Youth Welcome Desk. Filling in this form ensures the best care of you and will keep you up-to-date with upcoming events.
Throughout the year HT hosts some great youth events such as the Youth Weekend Away, Youth Come Dine With Me, Youth Film Night and much more. For more information about upcoming events, visit the Calendar.
Autumn Term Card
Take a look at the term card to see what’s happening over the next few months.
The next HT Youth social is coming soon! More details will be coming in the next few weeks…
Every year HT Youth go away for five days in the summer to Soul Survivor, a Christian youth festival. Over these days we camp together with the primary aim of seeking more of God along with the thousands of others, primarily through the seminar streams and two main meetings of worship, talks and prayer ministry daily. There are also plenty of activities on offer with cafes, sport parks, live music, paint fights, dance parties and more - it’s a fantastic week!
Youth Weekend Away
Every year the youth take a weekend to go away together for some serious fun and some quality time with God. Over the weekend there are meetings that include worship, talks and prayer, as well as small group times to discuss our own faith journeys together. There is also plenty of time for games in the dark, bonfires, sports, quality food, go-karting, inflatable bungee-runs, creative crafts, walks in the country and late night games of mafia. You'll be guaranteed to come away having made new friends and being refreshed in your own faith in Jesus Christ!
Coffees/Sport with your leaders
The Youth Leaders would love to meet with you at any point during the year to talk about what is going on in your life and in your walk with Jesus. Alternatively, you may just want to hang out, and they are definitely up for that too! If you would like to meet up with your Youth Leaders at any time during the year then get in touch with them and they would love to take you to kick around a ball/have a hot chocolate or ice-cream. Just make sure you get your parent/carer to sign and return the general 'coffees permission form' available here first!
If you would like to meet with someone more regularly than once a term - to be challenged in your faith, encouraged with whatever may be going on in your life, and just generally supported, why not ask for a coach?! It makes sense to practise sports or music, so why not have a mentor to help exercise our faith? Together you can grow in discerning God's voice and dig down deeper into your understanding of the Bible. There is a team of trained and DBS-checked coaches ready to walk alongside you and pray for you. While taking part is simply a matter of asking anytime, we will need to write home first to gain permission for you to take part and introduce you to your new coach. If this is something you are interested in then please contact the Youth team.
Meet the Team
HT Youth is run by an amazing team of staff and volunteers who will be wearing red lanyards on Sundays so feel free to ask them any questions.
Sunday sessions are run by leaders who are DBS checked and HT has a child protection policy in place.
